INTRODUCTION
English is an International Language. It demands all the society in every background for students to master it well. Here in the Philippines, English must be taught as a second language. It shows that teaching English as L2 is a very important thing that is included in our Curriculum in Basic Education.
To successfully teach English as a second language, Reading Approach is one of the methods that can be used by teachers. Here, I will Introduce MPIES READING APPROACH for teaching Beginning Readers to learn to read English.
MPIES READING APPROACH is a reading approach using L1 (Mother-Tongue-Based) to learn L2 (English Language). An approach in teaching Reading in English to Grade I up to Grade III Pilipino learners and Reading Readiness to Kindergarten.
METHODOLOGY
The mode of delivery of this approach is the digital way through an e-book using kotobee reader app. This is to suit the current situation brought by the pandemic wherein face-to-face teaching and learning is not possible between teacher and students.
BACKGROUND
The conditions that children of today are the generation Z, of their young age is a techno-savvy, as they were born on the birth of a technology that grew fast and change the world fast. With this fast-changing world brought by technology, it is the young minds had able to adapt fast to it and cherish it with their daily lives. We cannot anymore change their lifestyle especially in learning and bring them to the old world with an orthodox way of pedagogy of teaching and learning.
So, in teaching Reading of these Children of generation Z, digitized MPIES READING APPROACH is the Key. MPIES READING APPROACH stops Non-readers and no more non-readers will be left behind.
PROCEDURE
STEP 1: Download KOTOBEE READER APP from this link:
STEP 2: Install the app to your smart or android phone.
STEP3: Download MPIES READING APPROACH e-book chapter by chapter by clicking the google drive link and clicking download file.
STEP 4: Open KOTOBEE READER APP and click the Epub folder to open Epub files from your download manager.
STEP 5: Let then your child and learners start to enjoy reading in a Digital way.
